There is so much wonderful music to be heard in the Midwest that you won't find on any commercial radio station. Local independent artists are worth listening to which is why we produce the monthly Songwriters' Showcase Series at The Globe Theatre in Greenville, IL. Our 2011-2012 series is complete with some of the best acoustic artists around. What we need now is funds to continue paying rent for the venue and a few advertising dollars to get the word out. This is where you can help.
We are having a one day festival fundraiser in Patriots Park at Rts 140 and 127 just northwest of Greenville, only 40 miles east of St. Louis, exit 36 off I-70. Twelve hours of original music, two stages, 19 different acts putting their best foot forward to show that independent music is well worth hearing and we're out to prove that Greenville is listening! Come join us for SATURDAY IN THE PARK on September 3rd from 9am to 9pm. There will be food vendors, artists, 50/50 raffle, and a guitar raffle for a Blueridge BR 160-CE, only $10 a ticket or 12 for $100. Only 150 tickets will be sold, you need not be present to win and the guitar will be available to play at the park. Tickets are available at Wildflower Conspiracy gigs and the open mic on Wednesday nights at Adam Brothers Music and Coffee House at 110 S. 2nd St., Greenville, IL.
Bring the kids, hiking shoes, fishing poles, coolers, blankets or lawn chairs and plan to spend the day and part of the night. A fire spinner will be illuminating the final act. There's plenty to do in town if you want to add to the day by shopping the antique malls or eating at the many great restaurants in Greenville or just exploring the historic courthouse square. The event will be held rain or shine so come prepared to get an ear full of excellent music! Thanks for supporting live music!!
